Hieroglyph Alphabet

Short story people:

Your story must be 2-3 pages, typed, double-spaced.  It must include all of the vocabulary words we learn this month.  It must be set in Ancient Egypt, and have a full and complete plot map showing what the climax, falling action, and resolution of the story will be ( this thing: _/\__ ).  You will be graded for creativity, realistic setting and character details, and proper grammar/spelling.  Good luck!

Project people:

Let your parents know when you're presenting so that they can come in and watch!  We will get started right away with presentations, so be ready.

Ready for Egypt?? :) In your notebook, write down 5 things you are most interested in learning about.

If you have a current event to share, make sure it's all written up and ready to hand in!

STUDENTS:  What would life be like if we didn't have a written language?  What kind of difficulties would you face?  Write a response to this question in your TAJ.  You might start by writing, "Life would be very different without a writing system because..."

(How long should it be?  Long enough to do a good job of responding, short enough to remain interesting).

STUDENTS:  This is a quiet time.  In your notebook, draw the diagram that is on the board under the classroom rule.  In the left-hand section of your diagram, write about how hunter-gatherers lived.  What did they do all day?  How did they get food and shelter?  Did they move around a lot or stay in one place?  Leave the other side blank.

STUDENTS:  Quietly take a Social Studies textbook to your seat and turn to page 38.  On the left side of the page, there is a section called "Reading Strategy".  Follow the directions given (draw the diagram in your notebook).  You will have to read from pages 38-41 to find the answers!
